Hi there! I'm Andrej Trnkoczy, an experienced whitewater guide living in the breathtaking Bovec valley. Growing up in Ljubljana, Slovenia, I spent most of my childhood in the Trenta valley, where my family's weekend house was located. I have fond memories of playing in the forest, climbing trees, and observing the local wildlife. As I grew older, my siblings took me on adventures around the valley, and we spent many hours paddling on the Soča river in our father's kayak. He was one of the pioneers of kayaking in the region, long before the rise of Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP-ing).
During my teenage years, I became passionate about exploring the wilderness of the Julian Alps and trying out different sports, but it was always water sports that drew me back to the valley. In 2018, I decided to pursue my dreams and moved to Bovec to work as a whitewater guide on the Soča river. Soon after, I realized I wanted to start my own business. While paddleboarding was already popular, it was not well represented in the region, so I decided to open the Bovec Paddleboarding agency. Since then, guiding people and teaching them to paddle correctly has been my passion, and it allows me to fulfill my life's calling of making people have a good time being active in nature.
Throughout my years of working as a guide, I have gained extensive knowledge about water dynamics and safety precautions. This knowledge enables me to provide a professional and safe paddling experience for you to enjoy to the fullest. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced paddler, I will help you master the art of paddling and make your trip to the Soča river unforgettable. Join me for a thrilling and exciting adventure through the beautiful Soča valley!

Is Stand Up Paddle Boaring hard to do?You may think that standing up on a SUP is pretty hard but in fact, it's pretty easy! Do not worry if you do not have any previous experience. We will start slowly by kneeling on the board first, and then gradually progress towards the standing pose. If you ever feel like you're about to lose balance when standing up, all you need to do is crouch, and it's practically impossible to fall off the board.

Do I need any previous experience with stand-up paddling? You don't need any previous experience. We will teach you how to paddle. If it's your first time on a SUP we will start slowly by kneeling on the board first and then gradually progress towards the standing pose. If you ever feel like you're about to lose balance when standing up, all you need to do is crouch, and it's practically impossible to fall off the board.
-
How fit do I need to be to go on a trip?Paddleboarding is not a very physically demanding sport, you don't need to be specially fit to participate.
-
What do I need to bring for the trip?We recommend that you bring a swimsuit, towel, warm clothes and something to drink. Don't forget about sunscreen on a sunny day!
-
What's the minimum age for attending a trip? For the trips on calm waters, the minimum age is 5 years. Depending on the age, kids can paddle alone or join parents on their board. For the Soča River Trip, they need to be at least 10 years old and must paddle on their own board. It is best if kids that scare easily do not attend this trip.
-
Are pets allowed? If your pet knows how to swim and is comfortable in the water they can join you on your board. Pets can not join the Soča River Trip.
-
Do I need to know how to swim? You do not need to know how to swim, if you're a non-swimmer please let us know and we will provide a life west. On the Soča River Trip, you have to know how to swim.

Should I rent a SUP and go paddling on my own?If you go on a trip with us, we will take care of everything. We pick you up and drive you to the start point in a super comfortable air-conditioned van. You won't have to worry about parking, navigation, or transporting the boards. All you need to do is relax and enjoy the ride. You can have a music request or get informed about the area and its history. The guide will show you all the best spots and make sure you learn the proper paddling technique. That way, you will get the most out of the sport, which is especially useful if it is your first time on the paddleboard. If you already know how to paddle professionally and would like to be alone with your friends or family to spend a whole day by the water, then you should consider renting. Please note that we STRONGLY DISCOURAGE going paddling on the Soča river on your own. The fast-flowing river with whitewater rapids is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS to the inexperienced. You SHOULDN'T go paddling on the river on your own unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing, have vast experience with whitewater, and you are properly equipped and informed. If you are not COMPLETLY SURE you're up for the task we STRONGLY RECOMMEND taking our Soča River SUP Trip.
